Farm Grown Flowers for Graduation and Spring Events
Every year during May and June, it feels like things are moving too fast because everything seems to be taking place at once. There are graduations, end of school ceremonies, parties, recitals, and open houses are happening left and right.
As calendars fill up with events, everyone often looks for flowers—sometimes even up to the last second. I've watched this happen every year from the field, and I'm always grateful that what we have growing is some of the best in the season.
Last year, a woman met us at our flower stand two days before her daughter's graduation party. She hadn't planned on getting flowers. She said she was just driving past and stopped on an impulse. She spent around ten minutes talking to us, deciding on some flowers, then changing her mind again. In the end, she left with two bouquets. One for her daughter and one for her daughter’s best friend. The next morning, she came back to pick up a couple more flower buckets. That's usually how it goes. You see the blooms in person and it changes your plan.
Our available spring flower options
Late spring is generous. The ranunculus are still going, layered and full, at the stage where they open slowly in the vase over several days. The delphinium’s clear blue hue that's hard to find anywhere else is vigorous this time of year. Snapdragons are a good option as well because they add structure to a floral arrangement without making it feel stiff.
Stock is almost always part of what we gather this time of year. It's quiet in an arrangement but it's what makes everything else feel settled. The scent is light, something close to clove, and it fills a room without being overpowering.
For graduation specifically, I like combinations that feel celebratory without being loud. Color with some depth to it. Something that photographs well on a table and still looks good three days later.
Ready-made or build your own
We offer ready-made bouquet options for those who want an arrangement prepared in advance, or you can build your own bouquets with a bucket of flowers fresh from the field. Our bucket options include several color palettes: Soft Whites is the most requested for events as it is clean, layered, and looks great on any table. Vintage Shades runs through dusty rose, soft lavender, and muted peach, which tends to suit graduation parties that lean toward a more gathered, garden feel. Bright Lights is for those who want bold colors that celebrate youth. Everything is hand picked and the farmer's choice of what’s looking beautiful now.
When to place an order
This is the part I always mention because it matters. The flowers that are ready in the third week of May may not be the same ones that are ready in the second week of June. If you have a date in mind, it helps to reach out early. Not because supply runs out immediately, but because knowing your timing helps us cut at the right moment and set something aside. Pre-ordering also makes pickup straightforward, especially around busy weekends.
One last thing
A neighbor of ours used flowers from the farm for her son's open house last June. She set them out in mismatched vases across three tables and said it looked like our field was in their home. That's the goal, really. Not arrangements that look out of place. We want our flowers to always feel fresh and make wherever you display it look more inviting.
Plus, each bouquet purchased helps us share flowers beyond the farm. That's been part of how we work, and side by side events like these make it possible to give a little more.
If you have something coming up, we'd be glad to help you figure out your floral needs!
